1. Brut NV, Wiston Estate 

Region: West Sussex, England

Grapes: 34% Chardonnay, 33% Pinot Noir, 33% Pinot Meunier

Why? Simply the greatest English sparkling we’ve come across.

It’s like: Brioche, cream & red apple 

Pairs with: Popcorn, scallops, turbot


2. Chablis Les Pargues 2017, Domaine Eleni et Edouard Vocoret 

Region: Chablis, Burgundy, France

Grapes: 100% Chardonnay

Why? Because it’s pure, crisp & quintessentially Chablis.

It’s like: Wet stones, lemons & almonds

Pairs with: Oysters, raw chestnut mushrooms, butter


3. Ossian 2015, Ossian

Region: Rueda, Castilla y Leon, Spain

Grapes: 100% Verdejo

Why? Epic oak aged Verdejo from 100yr+ old vines. 

It’s like: Lemon curd, peach & oatmeal

Pairs with: Manchego, roast chicken,  


4. Mabalel Pinot Noir 2016, Crystallum

Region: Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, Walker Bay, South Africa 

Grapes: 100% Pinot Noir

Why? Cracking New World Pinot, perfect balance of restraint & ripeness.

It’s like: Ripe strawberries, cherry & sweet spices

Pairs with: Lamb, duck, roast veg


5. Viña Tondonia Tinto Reserva 2006, Bodegas R. López de Heredia

Region: Rioja, Spain

Grapes: 75% Tempranillo, 15% Garnacha, 10% Graciano & Mazuelo 

Why?  An all-time favourite & powerhouse of traditional winemaking. 

It’s like: Dark berries, sweet spices & forest floor

Pairs with: Beef, rich tomato sauces, sausage


6. Estate Grown Cabernet Sauvignon 2015, Frog’s Leap 

Region: Rutherford, Napa Valley 

Grapes: 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc

Why? Superb Napa Cab that manages refinement amidst exuberance. 

It’s like: Cassis, mocha & green pepper

Pairs with: BBQ, beef, portobello mushrooms
